Breeding and showing dogs are passions I have pursued for over 45years. At times I had only a shoe-string budget; in later years I’ve had the luxury to support a team of top professionals.

AlCher Dobermans goes back to 1972. I have bred and owned over 150 champions over my lifetime, including Dobermans, Whippets, Pointers, Great Danes, and Shih Tzus, some of whom I showed myself, while others were shown by top handlers

I am privileged to have known most all of notable dog experts from the past and was fortunate to have been mentored by many legendary breeders in the 1970’s and 80’s, which gave me a solid foundation in Dobermans. In the late 80’s I took a break from Dogs to start my own company—Benefit Consultants.

I have bred and Co-owned 40 Best of Breed and Best in Specialty Show winners who are featured throughout this website. In addition to many coveted placements at prestigious All-Breed Shows (Westminster and Eukanuba / Royal Canin), Alcher has been fortunate at the Doberman Pinscher Club National Event. In October 2016 the DPCA Top Twenty winner was Ms. Marvel. Winning the DPCA National is a once in a lifetime event, or so I thought.

The year 2022 made history for both myself and the DPCA.
GCHG Ch AlCher TMAC Witchcraft V Gentry, or “Wicked” is the
first dog in the history of the DPCA to accomplish the Trifecta:
- Best of Breed at the Regional Event,
- Winner of the Top Twenty Event, and
- Best of Breed at the Doberman National.
All three of these wins occurred in the same week!

Wicked also won breed at the Westminster Kennel Club 2022 event
and a Working Group 2 Placement.
She is currently ranked the #1 Doberman All Systems,
the #1 Working dog in the country for 2023, and
is spending multiple months as the Number One Breed Dog in the Country.

While my focus has been on conformation and health, my stock has excelled in the temperament and performance arenas as well. Alcher has produced many Register of Merit (ROM) Dobermans and several Top Twenty Obedience Dobermans. Both the APEX award and the Legacy Award, from the Doberman Pinscher Club of America, have been earned by Alcher Kennel. The Dobermans produced through my breeding program have titles on both ends; function follows form.

Fondly looking back on the joy all of my dogs have brought me, I am pleased to see bits and pieces of them living on in their progeny. I am excited about future generations and look forward to producing many more beautiful Dobermans under the AlCher kennel prefix. As always, my goal is to continue to breed the all-around Doberman who excels in conformation and performance, and at home is a beloved companion.

I would like to thank all my Co-Owners and Co-Breeders who are on this amazing journey with me.

In March of 2016 I was honored to be the subject of Doberman Digest featured Breeder Article, which is provided below. Please Enjoy.
